WHAT IS INCLUDED? SUP or Kayak hire prices include a Paddle and Buoyance Aid. If you want a wetsuit this is an additional hire cost. Each hire will also include a safety brief and assistance launching at the start.

WHERE CAN WE PADDLE TO? The Gylly Adventures instructors will describe and define the hire zone available to you. The Zone size may vary depending on sea conditions that day. The hire zone is normally a kilometer in length with clear marker buoys indicating the furthest allowed limit out to sea (Approximately 400 meters).

CAN I HIRE FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR? At Gylly Adventures we provide kayak and SUP hire by the hour. You can hire up to a maximum of 2 hours within our hire zone. Wetsuit hire is available for 24hr with a deposit. Kayak and SUP hire is not available overnight.

CAN WE TAKE A HIRED KAYAK OR SUP TO A DIFFERENT BEACH OR VENUE? CAN WE HIRE OVERNIGHT? No, we do not allow this.

WHAT IF THE CONDITIONS ARE ROUGH OR IT IS RAINING? Your safety is our priority and if we deem that the weather and sea conditions are not appropriate to hire kit we will not do so. If you have made an online or over the phone reservation, we will contact you in advance to reschedule or cancel. In Cornwall it rains a lot, no activities stop because of the rain unless it is accompanied with unsafe wind and sea conditions.

DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE, CAN I RESERVE KIT? We will do our best to cater last minute bookings however, to guarantee availability and avoid disappointment advance booking is recommended. Kayak hire is available from all venues without prior booking, however on the day we do not reserve kayaks. All paddleboard bookings (@ Gylly Beach only) must be made in advance. Advance bookings for Paddleboards and kayaks can be easily made online or over the phone.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR KIT HIRE? Anyone below the age of 18 hiring a sup or kayak must have a parent or guardian present, always supervising from the beach. Any child below the age of 12 years must have a parent or guardian accompany them out on the water. Children below the age of 9 years must paddle on a double kayak accompanied with an older paddler. The minimum age for a child accompanied with an adult on a double Kayak is 5 years. The minimum age limits for SUP hire is 9 years.

WHAT TO BRING? Please bring any medication you require e.g., inhalers. Swimming Costume, Sun cream, Water Bottle, Towel, and warm clothes to put on at the end. We recommend arriving with swimming costumes already on.

IF I HIRE A SUP OR KAYAK CAN I SWAP IT AMONG FRIENDS AND FAMILY? No. The hired equipment is allocated to just one person for the duration of the hire period. Gylly Adventures must always know who is out on the water. Additionally, Buoyancy aids are individually fitted and therefore swapping may result in incorrect fitting. Gylly Adventures staff provide a safety brief at the start of the hire period to just the people allocated to the equipment.

IS THERE SOMEWHERE I CAN LEAVE BELONGINGS WHILE ON THE WATER? Yes. We can provide a storage box for belongings. The storage box will be kept at the back of our container. The container is not locked therefore we do not take any responsibility for any loss or damage of personal belongings. We recommend leaving as many belongings as possible in your car or on the beach.

CAN I WEAR GLASSES OR TAKE MY PHONE OUT WITH ME? We advise against it but Yes. it is at your own risk. We have seen plenty of sunglasses and phones drown over the years.

CAN I WEAR MY OWN WETSUITS? Yes.

WHAT IS THE WEIGHT LIMIT? The weight limit for a double kayak is approximately 25st/160kg. Single kayaks 15st/95kg. If you think you are close to the weight limit, please let us know. We can rig a double kayak to be paddled as a single, so you can still enjoy the adventure. The weight limit for our Paddleboards is approximately 21st/133kg. This does not consider the paddler skill, fitness, and sea conditions. These factors also influence the maximum weight limit for successful paddle boarding.  If you are over 18 stone, please let us know and we can discuss alternative options if paddle boarding is not successful.
